Abstract

|
Fifty-three years old Korean male, who was heavy alcoholic, visited to our hospital with complaints of general weakness, dull mentallity, polyuria, polydipsia and blurred vision.
There were dark skin discoloration on whole skin surface especially on face and exposed area.
Serum iron levels were elevated (183243pg/dl) and T. I. BX. were within normal limit (300-342pg/dl).
Diabetes and liver cirrhosis with hepatic coma were diagnosed by following laboratory findings: Blood sugar levels were 175mg%, 272mg%, 306mg% and 378mg% at fasting and 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours after glucose load respectively. Total protein was 6.39%, albumin 3.49%, globulin 2.9g%, alkaline phosphatase 6.0 units, total bilirubin 2.5mg% and blood ammonia 260pg%
